SW North Dakota snow pictures...

Dad says it was a pretty good blizzard, near zero visibility during the worst of it. Some of the roads ended up being blocked from drifting snow, and of course the rain before the snow made it sloppy underneath. Luckily enough the power stayed on during the whole thing - flickered quite a bit, but stayed on.

Some of the cattle and horses were still out in the pasture and rode the storm out there, the next day the horses led the cattle home.

The morning after they managed to get the four-wheeler (Polaris 500 4x4) and pickup stuck. He is quite appreciative of the JD 4450 MFWD and 740 classic loader the last few days. Once they got the snowblower dug out it was easy to make some trails.

Somewhere around 12 inches or so at the farm, I think. Nothing like they had in Rapid City, SD - but enough to get people in the winter spirit!

This shot is from my sister that lives near Lemmon, SD:

And the rest are from the farm in SW ND:

That looks kind of familiar here (Minot) too.
We got nine or ten inches and more wind then we needed. Winter is here that's for sure.

I am getting similar reports out of Bowman and Reeder. Hope it melts slow and goes in the ground. Here in California it is gettting so cold we are switching to long sleeve shirts. Might have to start up the furnace by Thanksgiving.

Haven't used the AC or the heat here in AZ for almost a week and a half. Pretty chilly out this afternoon, the heat may kick on tonight if we get some wind with it.

Friend from Dickinson, ND said there was around 3/4" of rain before the snow fell.

Ok, off to a good start. Steven, what do you think cash rents should be next year. The guy that rents the land I bought from my dad made an an offer and I said no, to much, you will never make a living. He seemed relieved after "the talk".

I know that some people are renting for $30 to $40 per acre, cash... I don't know if they make a living at that, but there sure have new equipment and nice pickups! 8)

We got just a light dusting, 1/2" or so. A free-standing wood stove heats about half the house and keeps the propane delivery man away so often. I once remarked to our SD pheasant-hunting host, "I'd sure like to see a good prairie blizzard just once." He replied, "If you see one, you might not ever want to see another one." How did Native Americans survive with just a tepee?

They stayed inside it until the storm was over. I always said the only people who perished in a blizzard were those who weren't smart enough to stay home...
