Killing hogs

.22 rifle/pistol behind the ear?? We used to scald them in a barrel, scrape, and hang on what grandpa called "hog gallows".

We butchered 3 last spring but we skinned them instead of scalding. When I was younger and my grandma on my dads side was still alive we would butcher 7 hogs on Thanksgiving. All my cousins who are about 10 years older than me got to help. I was the one getting teased by my uncles to eat eyeballs. Thanks for bringing back the memories Floyd.
 
My did always drew an imaginary "X" between their ears and eyes, and shot into the center of the X.
 

I am in fairview, just west of nashville.

Got all 10 killed scalded and gutted.. Hung up to cool out over night.. Today will be the hard job.. Trimming, cooking lard, grinding sausage, and etc.

Good thing is we cooked two shoulders from hogs we killed two weeks ago.. They are going to be good for eating today..

We have a scalder set up. All the hogs scalded good.

Time to get back to work.. I see my help is starting to show up this morning.
