My '75 XLCH had been sitting for about a month, usually starts cold with 2-3 kicks, I didn't choke it enough and probably kicked it a dozen times. When it did fire up it immediatly barfed about four tablespoons of oil out of the crankcase breather, never done this before, been riding it for years. Anything to worry about?

Yeah, nothing seems to be wrong with it, runs great, just unloaded some oil out of the breather real fast and it was over.

This one never has, even after the 4 month rest over winter. It does run oil out most every other place 'til it is warmed up some, but not out of the breather. It acted like the pressure side of the pump leaked down and flooded the crankcase. Had a 750 Norton that would flood it in about a week but as soon as it started the scavenging pump would blow it right back up into the oil bag, not out the breather. Been riding XL's since '78, this one for about 7 years.

If this is first time- maybe loose check valve? a bit of grit didn't let it seat? Been awhile since I ran Sportster (68) but the starting spit and smoke was known to a couple of riding buddies with them- clean out oil tank and change oil helped one, rebuild after sucking in dirt through cleanerless carb helped other. Flush tank and refill a couple times is cheap way to check before repairing oil pumps. RN

My 96 Evo Superglide started doing that after a couple years with a K&N air filter traded it off now I know the HD dealer is laughing now they sold it the next day. Seems normal. Joke was on me. I just didn't like it puking on the chrome.
