The battery old down on truck was loose and tray locater wore a hole in bottom of battery. Harbor Freight sells a plastic welder kit. will this work? What kind of plastic is the case? its made by Wonch.
The battery is only about 5 months old.

Is the battery leaking? If not then just cut a piece of 1/4 inch plexiglass or similar hard plastic and epoxy it on the bottom.

If the battery is leaking, get you a new one. Don't take a chance on it ruining something more expensive by try to save a few buck.

Over the years I have tried to repair battery leaks. Eventually they they will stary leaking again. Nothing will bond to the battery cases. The hot air welding gun sold at harbor freight will work, but you need the same plastic welding rod as the case material. You night try JB weld for a temp. fix. Just get the crack as clean as possible. stan

My son works at a fiberglass mfg outfit. WE repaired one by plugging the holes where the filler caps are, then turn it upside down and wash it clean, v the crack and used the resin and fiber sheets layer over layer and let it dry 24 hours. It held up untill the battery failed from old age.

Most modern battery cases are polypropylene, not to be confused with polyethylene. Polypropylene is repairable only by fusion welding with the proper filler material. Adhesives will not do the repair.

That must either be a very expensive battery or a very cheap plastic welder. I'd just go buy a new battery and be done with it.

i fixed one with rtv silicone still sitting in my garage as a spare no leaks yet that was 10 months ago my cracks were on the top and down the side though pulled a tree out by the roots with my dc case tree come down on me and tractor smashed batt. and dented gas tank

'Way back when', we somehow knocked a hole in the side of an almost new battery; friend at local body shop repaired it with Bondo; it lasted several years with no problems...........

Battery shifted in its tray on my riding mower, and fan belt wore a small hole in it, on an upper corner. I set it up so hole was above the acid level, cleaned it up real well, dried it, and patched with JB Weld. Lasted about 15 minutes. I fixed it by buying a new battery.

I have also repaired a crack in the case with rtv silicone. Worked for 3 years until a bad cell killed the battery.

Battery cases are hard rubber, not any variety of plastic. Plastic gets brittle in the cold. RTV gasket sealer will bond to the case if it's clean and dry. I know, I've done it before. I fixed one with a hole in the side with RTV then refilled it with acid from another battery that was bad. A hole on the bottom would be tough to keep sealed due to the rubbing going on. Best is replace the battery.

get you a piece of a old battery and use a electric soldering iron and weld it back together. If its between two cells you have to get them welded back so they will not leak together...Try it on a old battery first to get the feel of it...idontno
