Shifter boots on a 1020 JD

Anyone have a method of slipping the shifter boots over the Knobs? The Parts guy said to use Dawn and "simply" slide them over. Its a real no go.

Probably have to sacrifice/remove the knobs...If they are attached with loctite on the threads, try a little heat to the shift rod first and then try. Thats why parts guys are known as "parts guys"....

DID IT! Soaked em in boiling water for 5 minutes, another dab of Dawn and POP right on they went! Wife said to soak em in hot water first. Whom would have thought an old wives tale was true! Now if I can get her to help rebuild the 3 pt...
