O/T How secure ?????

How secure is a privacy policy??

I was going to get Dish network until They demanded a credit card, After finding out that they are based in the Philippines, I was no longer interested So I chose Direct TV instead, Guess what? They are from the same place! I found that out when calling their 888 number.

Today, my wife called the SS service on a personal matter and she was talking to a person she couldn't understand so she gave me the phone.

I was very surprised the lady she was talking to was of oriental decent, and very familiar sounding accent.

It dawned on me she was Vietnamese, and definitely not a long time resident of the US.

How much of our personal information is now in other country's for anyone to look at.?

I am sure all these people that are residents Of the US,talk to their relatives overseas and think they may not get caught if they they have something in question in mind.

So How safe are we?

I have had Dish for ten years, I pay them online thru my bank web site . Only problem i had was them calling me to try to get me to upgrade etc, so I called customer service to "update" my phone number and gave them a bogus number, that was two years ago. no probs since

Been with Dish network since 1993 and have never had a problem with abuse, if your worried about giving out your personal info to a stranger you can sign up for service online...

Remember, with most c-cards other than a debit card your protected from fraudulent charges anyway so don't get to cranked up about them asking for such.

If you have Verizon, I think you can get a reduced rate for Direct TV.

Not very. The vice president of the bank called me one morning and told me not to use my debit card. He had tried to use his to buy gas and was denied. We found out eventually that a bunch of card numbers had been stolen from the automatic billing of our local internet service provider.

I pay for my Dish Network bill through my phone service, Century Tel. I don't know how that works but I save $5 a month by doing that and only have one bill.

Thats just the tip of the iceburg. One of the largest health insurers in the US has outsourced all of its IT and processing to India. When a claim is filed it goes to Bangalore to be processed and then sent back here. All the error coding is done there too. A lady friend of mine worked in IT with them in 2006, they gave her 2 choices, go to India and teach them how to data process health ins claims and have a job for 24 mo or be unemployed in 6 mo when they went online.
