3 PT Ballast box

I"m building a ballast box to weight the rear of my 1020. Trying to figure out how to attach and keep it from banging around. Does anyone have instructions or a photo to share? It will be counter balance when I move round bales with the front loader. Thanx Wilson

Got an extra set of suitcase weights and a bracket lying about?

Run a 3-point drawbar thru the handles and you're in business. :>)

I may not be understanding your question, but wouldn't a connecting point for your top link keep it from banging around?

My old neighbor torched a couple of holes through a 55 gal. drum and welded in a 3pt drawbar. A top link connection was welded to the barrel as well for stability. He then filled the barrel with concrete and painted it to match his tractor. It worked well on his 8n. I think he had the barrel about 3/4 full which would be about 850lbs. I don"t remember, but I would image he tightened up the check chains to keep it from swaying back and forth.

My self I do it the simple way and also makes for being able to do work at the same time. I put a back blade on the 3 point and hang suit case weights on the blade. Good bit of ballast and you can use the blade for grading also. Doing it that way kills to birds with one stone. I have tried the ballast box set ups and the 55 gal drum full of cement and switched back to the back blade because it was just plain more weight and also hung back far enough to do a better job then any ballast box

I used a frame I made out of junk and set a 55 gallon barrel on it and filled it with rock. I put a chain around the barrel to keep it from bouncing/ rocking around.

Do you allready have the rear tires filled ? They have alot more choices out now then cal. cloride.

Thanx for all the ideas. I'm trying to keep it close to the tractor so it will still fit in the barn. Then I can leave it on all winter.
