Everything is going. Crops are fantastic, the ground is finally getting solid and the weather has been excellent. Picked corn untill the drying bins were all full over the weekend and then we finished cutting beans in the rain on monday evening just before dark. Always good to have them out of the way. Back into the corn on tuesday till about 10 last night. It was raining when I headed back out the door at 5:30 this morning so today was spent emptying bins out and getting ready to go again. Got about half a inch of rain today but we will pick tomorrow. Still have 500 acres of corn to go so we need to keep moving.
These are just some pics from the last few days.

I was headed to the field with fuel and to get ready to pick sunday morning when the sun was coming up. No rest for the weary.

A couple loads of corn headed to the bin. Yep, the 4520 uses a little fuel.

Another sunset at the end of yet another nice fall day. Sure would be nice to keep this good weather for another few weeks.

Bill those are some great pics. Im only 19 and do hay. Im really interested in combines and really want to get some land and maybe an older combine in the coming years. Really good pics, im at school and makes me really miss home.

Sure enjoy the pics. The dog reminds me of our old English Shepherd when I was a kid. She would actually sit beside me on the seat of Dads old Allis B when I was plowing. Harvest is one of the most stressful, and satisfying times on the farm. I finished planting wheat yesterday and cleaned up the combine and grain drill today.

Hey Bill,
whats the moisture on the corn running. Wish dad was as far along as you guys are. How are High pockets and the rest of the group doing.

Hey travis
Everybody is good. We are counting down the days to coon hunting. I talked to your dad for about and hour yesterday morning. He was hoping for some sun so he could get back to cutting beans, dont know if he did or not. We were picking corn at Taylors and it was testing 17.1 to 17.4 last night and it is 110 day corn. The moisture has been steadly dropping in this warm weather.
Dont work to hard.

I can't wait to go coon hunting. Corn here is ranging between 14.2 and 20%. Beans are about done, corn is around 20-25 percent done. The corn yields aren't great. I've heard a couple of guys say they haven't had a field go over 140 yet. Its coming out pretty fast now finally. I can't wait for it to get over.

Still a quite a few beans to go yet looking around. When guys get into the corn they will be very happy. What we have seen makes it seem like there will be alot of field averages in the 240 bu. range. We are going to try to make a dash to the finish before the whole pipeline gets flooded when everybody gets into the corn full bore. I looked up and last year we finished on the tenth of october. There will be alot guys picking in november this year for sure. Did your dad tell you the fairview elevator sold again? FS finally got it and the rest of the WIG elevators.
bill

Yeah I heard they got sold to FS. I wonder if they will leave Fairview open all year, or if it will become a seasonal fill and close elevator. I would think the mill would go away, no more business that it does. Maybe I am wrong though. I hope we are done around here by the first deer season. I think it will be mostly over by then.

Bill I got my beans done and waiting to do corn because of moisture.

We are still looking at 25 to 28% here.

I may start in a couple of days but I can't get to excited about that wet corn.

108 day planted the 29 of April is still 28%.

We need another week of 80 degrees and a breeze to go with it. Fraid we ain't gonna get it thou.
