Got done cutting beans today, glad that's over. Grain head is wore out and had lots of fuel problems with combine. Corn is still a little too wet. Chris

What kind of beans do you raise? Your operation sure looks easier than when My Dad raised lima beans, in the 40,s and 50,s. First he would cut two rows at a time, then rake them into rows to finish drying. Then they would be picked up off of the ground and transfered into a wagon to be taken to the stationary threasher, where they would be transfered to a platform to be forked into the machine by hand. These are soybeans. They are used in several ways.

The meal is separated from the oil to use for high protein animal feed. The oil is used for every thing from fryer cooking oil to biodiesel fuel.

Some are made into tofu and other food products.

They are much more versatile than all the other beans.

These are Roundup Ready soybeans. Planted with an old John Deere grain drill with every other feed covered to get 14" rows. Chris

That looks like the reel from a Massey. I just took a real nice 13ft. Massey to a consign. auction to be sold yesterday. Mine was in perfect shape with Hiniker bar and plastic skids.

Same here: No problem at the elevators here this year. Yields are in many cases 1/3 of a normal year. Around here 40 bu. beans are about as rare as winning lottery tickets. Send me an e-mail. J.
