Sorry Guys,

Been almost forty years since I've walked a stick. All I remember is the number 3.

Is it total square sticks and move the decimal three places to the left?

If you're doing what I think you are that would be right. I was with Dad one time when he was measuring set-aside acres and he mentioned doing that. He said they used a long stick and twirled it top to ground as they walked. We used the metal tape the extension service provided us though.

You're probably using a half-rod, 8.25 ft.. Handle at the top, swing it end for end. Two lengths times a 1/2 mile equals one acre. We used to measure acreage for dividing fields that way. My dad could do that about as fast as he could walk.
