Got some pics today of Monsanto harvesting a test plot near where we were picking corn today. Maybe someone out there can fill us in on the combine and exactly what they were doing. Got some pics of both combines they were using. Looks like one is from Europe and the other is a modified New Holland.

Here is the 4010 working a just a little on the auger. Good news is the corn is drying down nicely, this 108 day corn is under 19 percent.

This is the 1456 working hard pulling wagons. All the rain we had in september has the ground very soft and we got about 3/4 of an inch tuesday just to keep is sticky.

It was a beautiful fall day to work on harvesting the wonderful crop we have been blessed with.

Dont know a darned thing about either combine but can say that I and many others really do appreciate your pictures. I am one that looks on here daily but rarely speaks, so I just thought that I would let you know how much I enjoy your posts of the farm. Great looking machines too. Keep it up and God bless. I, too, really enjoyed your harvest pictures. I seldom take time to post, but always enjoy the photos. Thanks again from Wisconsin.

Those combines are test plot machines which can harvest and weigh each side of the combine separately as I have seen them operate on my farm harvesting their test plots which I would call research plots.

The TR87 is used because they actually split the machine and make two in one. They have two rotors and they can split 4 rows, two to a side and harvest twice as fast. I guess the other machine to be either a european New Holland or a Lexion... they have twin rotors also.

Nice 1456. Good to see that some of the farmers were successful this year.

Dad's farm in SW ND won't break even due to the drought. Looks like the dry spell may be over with a severe winter weather warning for this weekend - heavy snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches...

I surmise that the little green machine is a Wintersteiger. We looked at a simular unit for harvesting grass seed at a plant materials center that where I am a board member.Price was about $265,000. We ordered a small Massey built in Finland with retro fitting by Kincade. Price was in the mid 140's.
