Anyone have anything bright for their future

I get to bring my oldest son deer hunting this fall! My daughter WILL graduate in in a year and half, and is pursuing being a pharmacist! Chicken sales are on the rise! I will have more land to farm in the spring. My family is in good health. My brother in law is getting married to a fine farm girl from South Dakota. My savings stopped shrinking (cause I quit spending!) I guess I wanted to post things that I am kinda of glad about and am looking forward to seeing happen. What are some good things that are happening in your lives in these times of loss, agony and frustration?

We will have a new screaming bundle of joy soon that the wife and I can spoil and then send home to mom (my daughter) and dad. Due Nov 22.
This will be her first so that should be interesting.

Only problem I can see is it is another girl. Already have 2 granddaughters from my son.
I was sure hoping for a grandson this time but that is OK as long as it is healthy.

I am losing weight (on purpose). . . I have a wonderful family . . . We're debt free . . . And most important of all, Jesus is alive and I'm one of His children.
Good Luck and God Bless

Just had a checkup and the battery in my ICD is still good for another six months. Most beautifull fall I have ever seen.

Dave,

Hats off to a positive post.

I don`t try and dwell too much on the down side. Seems like no matter what goes with the economy, I`m gonna keep working, farming, hunting, fishing and enjoying my family.

I also have two boys that are on the verge of gun training, and hunting. They already follow me everywhere in the woods, on the lake, pheasant hunting. What a great way for me to slow down from a busy life and spend some guy time with my boys..

Family`s been in good health, business is holding it`s own, dad got remarried a month or so ago to a very nice gal. My wife had the opportunity to switch jobs and do something she has wanted to for a long time. It`s fun to see her doing what she feels she was meant to do, instead of just trading time for a paycheck.

I will be getting a few head of cattle here in a week or so, I gotta feed too many horses already, why not throw some cattle in the mix, right.

All in all life has treated us pretty good over the last year.. BW

Only have a house payment. Winter feed is already paid for, Mares are bred and this year's babies are all sold and will be picked up before bad weather (means the hobby has paid for itself and a few improvements and I can shovel a little less SH). Vehicles and my little bit of equipment is all 100% ours. I quit smoking 10 years ago and the wife quit last week. Don't have to worry about the media interviewing me or Dr Phil inviting me to his show. Got my tractor ready for inspection tomorrow also. What more could a guy want.

Congrats.... must be something in the water... I have 3 daughters... thus my dad doesn't have a grandson to go fishing/hunting with....(nor do I have a son to do same with)...

having a hard time gearing up for a 4th since 3 strikes and you are usually out.....

Just paid off 12 acres form a land contract. No debt except for the house(on 10 acres).

Wife started a new job as a computer programmer in Sept, she returned to full time work from having our 3 kids... We should make more money this coming year than in any other...with no debt.

Kids are healthy and doing well in school, Wife is still holding her good looks, company I work for is back to break even...

So all in all with the economy on the verge of a depression....my family is healthy, and well positioned with some cash in bank...

Exactly my point.... Other than the fact that you may not be here, if a boy they(your grandparents) were after, they should have stopped at 3....cause they never did get a boy.... Of course they were probably after more than just a boy....

Not me... only reason I had a 3rd(and yes I love all 3 to death and they are daddy's girls) was to try for a boy....

3 strikes, back to the dugout I go...

I"m turning 28 and have saved enough money to finish one tractor AND go back to college this winter :)

A buddy of mine had four sons. He's now overrun with granddaughters and not a single grandson.

I think you'll find that each one from now on will be prettier than the last...personally, I can't say if it's because of the awareness that time is running out or whether I'm just able to just appreciate each one more, but it's certainly pleasant.

Don't know Dave. The calves that I caught for the second time yesterday were all still in the pen this morning. The fat steers that I had sold for a dollar a pound went out of here this morning averaging 1310. Youngest son moved out on his cheating girlfriend last night, even though I'd rather have been home eating supper and sleeping off the pain of chasing cattle instead of helping him move. Guess you have to take the good news where you can find it.

My first grandkid is due this afternoon - daughter is in labor right now, my business is doing fine - were paying our bills! Been dating the love of my life after two trys and this one is a keeper, my health is good for a 65 year old fart - yup, things are going good!!

Heck, yes! My daughter is married to a good man; they had their first wedding anniversary this week.

My wife is selling houses in a very tough market.

I am healthy. (It's a good thing since I may have to work until I am 85.)

We just got back from a little 1500 mile road trip to Minneapolis to visit some of my wife's family that hasn't met our 11 month old son: a great trip, beautiful autumn scenery, did a little shopping, picked up some ag parts, collected some acorns, and got away from our hobby farm for longer than 3 days for the first time in 5 years.
Our son is a happy little guy. We're all healthy, and I'm staying home to look after him this winter (he's too young for the community daycare). I'm looking forward to seeing him grow.
I recently graduated from an environmental technician program at the regional college after an ugly layoff: looking forward to changing my stars in the spring.
I found enough land this summer to put up enough hay for the entire year. That should save us some significant cash. I'm a part time farrier who has a slowly growing clientele, and I look forward to enjoying the pork and lamb that we've raised.
My wife and I have had a good talk the other day about running these horses as more of a business, and that means trimming some fat around here. We're doing everything we can to keep things affordable, but still have to grab from our savings to pay for this money-grabbing hobby. With any luck, we'll be back in the positive by spring, and able to start saving to build a house on our other property, the ultimate goal.

Guess things aren't all doom and gloom!

Dang its nice to hear from all you good people. I was beginning to think that the world was full of thos that fought with their neibours, got bad merchandise, and couldn't start a tractor. Was beginning to not trust any one under 60. Haveing a gret day. Insurance co just called and payed me for the pickup they caused to wreck- more than I expected. Just traped that smart mouse and THAT made my day.

Wife and I have good jobs, the farm is taking care of it's self. I have 2 great sons that both have great jobs with secure companies. I have 2 wonderful grand daughters that I can spoil to death. Dad had knee replacement surgery yesterday and is doing great and I can afford the toys (tractors and trucks) that I enjoy.

Paid my house off last month. They said, "don't do that. Get a 30 yr mortgage and put the difference in the stock market." I said no thanks and paid off in 15 yrs. Now about my 201K....

The good thing that happens every day in my life:

I have a pretty wife that loves me - not much else really necessary for me to keep going every day.

All the tractors start. ( my contribution to keeping this topic 'tractor related')

Just bought a 70 Dodge convertable, neighbor was trying to sell it all summer, only regret I should have got a hold of it at the beginning of summer not at the end. Dan AB

I own everything I have except the '07 GMC, which they can come get any time they want it. My IRA is in CD's not the market, so the return is slow but steady. Barn is full, freezer is full, woodshed is full. Alla my kids got jobs and their own homes.

There's things I'd do different if I had the chance, but I'm a lot better off than a lot of folks!

Yes, I just fixed the head lights on my JD LT133 lawn tractor.
They are much brighter now.

All the folks I know who want to work are working. Those I know who are ambitious and work really hard are doing really well. My family is all well & happy. I've decided to drastically reduce my TSP & IRA contributions and double up the house payments until it is paid for. Things are well.

After 9 months, my B is almost back together. My WC popped loose after buying it a piston/sleeve set (go figure) and she is next.

Ready for that last retirement? I got a plan that's outta this world. Check that black book you probably got one in your house. BIBLE basic instructions before leaving earth. In the meantime, I got wonderful wife of 42 years. Two great sons, six grandkids and one great grand daughter. No debts, not a person in the world I cannot get along with. There was once one, but he died. Sometimes the basement floods when the creek rises, but you gotta have water to live. Count your blessings. Bet you got more than you realize.

I was listening to state news this morning on the radio while driving to work. Nothing but doom and gloom and they love it!! I thought to myself, why dont they go out and look for a good story for every negative one they post? Guess it wouldn't sell.

Folks, compared to the rest of the world, and compared to history, we have absolutely got it made!!!!
