What have iron prices been doing?

Hello. I am from NW Iowa. What has iron prices been doing for regular unprepared shred lately with this economy? Thankyou

Varies with the area in which you live but here is an idea of what it will bring. How much do you have to get rid of? Is it two or three tons?

Here in Northern Indiana 4 weeks ago I got 205/ton for mixed tractor rear end scrap, 2 weeks ago they wanted to give me 40/ton for similar (larger) stuff so I left and I got 100/ton at a different place that gave 100/ton regardless steel, cast mixed large small ect. Depends on location and the dealer.

Tin and long iron are both bringing $3.50 per hundred pounds here. The bottom has pretty much fell out here.

I have alot of steel laying around. Most of it is old junk cars from the 70's and 80's when they were made pretty thin. Other than that I have numerous disks, a bunch of old scraper pans, stuff like that. Maybe 40 -50 tons at least.

I just checked them in Western, Pa and they are down about $3 a hundred lb. today.

In September cut no. 2 was $125, unprepared shear was $95 and now no.2 is 95 and shear is $60, Norfolk Nebraska Alter Corp.
