i amm thinking about getting a pto generator for my home. i have a ford 2810. what is the pto horsepower and what size generator would it handle. manual states 540 pto rpm @ 1800

Never heard of that mosel. Book says it's 32 pto hp. Your owners manual should have told you that.

Typically, PTO generators are sized @ 2 HP per KW, so a 16KW unit would be a reasonable match for your tractor, @ 32 HP.

BOb is right about needing 2 h.p. per kw, but I'll add that, if you aren't putting a big load on it, your 2810 can run whatever 540-pto rpm generator you can find. For smaller jobs, I've run my 25kw generator with my Jubilee (rated 31 h.p.)and it did just fine. Since you're just going to use it for your house (maybe you have a shop with a welder, etc. too?), pretty much any 540-run generator should fill your needs. A house/garage/shop doesn't need a big gen.
