Dualing Radial Tires

Got a tractor with the inside tires being 18.4-34 Radials. I am wanting to put duals on the tractor and wondering if it would be alright to put 18.4-34 bias ply tires on the outside. I know the Radial has a squat to it and the bias doesn't. Dont want to put undue stress on the inner/end of axle. Any thoughts?

it is done quite often if the biias are used they are probably shorter anyway and run the air pressure a little lower in the outside dual if you are buying new I would buy radials put the new ones on the inside and the others on the outside

Should be OK as long as the duals have lower pressure than the inner tires. A decal on one set of duals I have says to run 2/3 as much pressure in the dual as the inner tire. Maybe go even a little lower, since your inners are radials.

It depends on the tires...
I have a set of Firestone 23 degree radials on the inside and a set of GoodYear Dyna Torque II's (bias) on the outside. The DT II's are bigger, and bigger by a good amount. I run them like that but I let the air WAY down in the outside tires. As low as I dare, actually.
It's not something I'd recomend for traction... and they ride..... basically like any other half worn DT II. Like crap!
You'd be better off to get a new set of inside radials and throw the worn ones onto the duals if you can swing/justify it... That's what I plan on doing when the Firestone's get a little more wear on them.

I will also say that these are mounted on T-rail's and I've broken both rear wheel centers now. Mind you, it hauls heavy, on rough roads... fast.

I have 18.4X38 Firestone Radials on the inside and did have bias on the outside, changed the bias to firestone radials and gained a lot of traction.

That's what we had on our 1855 Oliver, just 18.4x38's.

We replaced the worn our radials on the tractor now, and we're gonna put them on the duals. Now we've got some Bias tires on it. Can't afford or justify the $$$ for new radials.
