plumbing question

The faucet in my shower recently started to pulse on and off sounding like a machine gun when turned on full. It was ok if only turned on 1/2. This morning it quit all together. No water at all. It's one of those Delta single knob setups where you push it up to turn it on, twist left for hot right for cold. Is there a simple fix, like a repair kit, or do I have to learn how to replace a shower faucet?

should the other suggestions not work you can get a replacement valve core from your local hardware.
I've never had one fail to turn on the water. The failures I've had is the valve core starts to leak through the faucet handle

if you cannot determine if there is one, a simple test would be to remove the shower head and test with just the pipe.

Delta does have replaceable guts though...both Lowes and Home Crapshoot have them.
good luck- every time I fool with showers I end up re-tiling walls. I've become pretty good at scraping $h!t off the back of old tile.
