ok im going to show myself as dumb here, as ive been around farming and farms my whole life but on the for sale adds here there is a wilkinson root cutter, from the angle of the photo i cant tell a lot about it, but ive never seen one of these, what is it used for and how is it used

Apparently, it"s like a sewer snake (drain cleaner) with a round blade on the tip for clearing roots in pipes.

Where I work , they make a Root Cutter ,, It is a circle with teeth on it... it mounts on a small machine , they cut the roots NEXT to a sidewalk or Drive so the roots wouldn't push the cement up..
If that's what your looking at ...

Like been said before... No such thing as a Dumb Question...unless you don't ask it ...

I looked at the picture there and I think it is for cutting root crops like Beets, turnips and even potatoes, etc for livestock feed. My dad raised some type of beets called mangels that he fed to cattle, hogs, sheep and horses....James
