Hello. I have been wanting get rid of a couple tractors to get some room freed up. I hate to do it but its just one of those things. I have not really messed with the old hit and miss engines much besides starting them and working them. I have been thinking about trying to trade a couple tractors out for a larger hit and miss or some small ones. The oil field engines are pretty facinating to me also. Plus, these engines are somewhat smaller than my tractors(storage). Does anybody know of any good sites on the internet for classifieds for these engines? small or large, either one. I found Smokstak which is pretty helpful. Thankyou

Smokestack, other than Ebay is the premier place to find anything about hit n miss engines.

I'm getting to the age that tells me I should down size. Not sure if I want to trade a tractor but wiould consider it. Send me an Email if you are interested and are in my area. Northern Illinois. I have a number of different sizes and makes. I also have not thought about price. It would take several days to organize and list.lj

You'll have to look far and wide to find a better site than SmokStak.Com; it's where all the "old engine guys" go, and they also feature tractors, though most of the interest is on pre-1930 tractors, and most of those are "off" makes (i.e., Happy Farmer, Emerson-Brantingham, Huber, etc.). Whether you're into steam engines, antique cars-and-trucks, old generators, farm antiques, oil field engines, or what-have-you, it's discussed over there. Take a look.

P.S. -- For some reason, though, that site and this one "don't play well together." That needn't keep anyone from enjoying both, however.
