Good deal.

Now you have time to come over and help harvest.

I also need a mechanic to help get everything tuned up and ready to go.

So get over here.

Allan,

As much as I'm a John Deere man, it sure looks funny to see an green drill behind that good ol' Farmall.

Our main tractor in the early '50s was a '49 John Deere 'A'. We had to borrow a neighbor's 'M' (or maybe s "Super M') one time, and I sure did enjoy driving it.

Just like an old Farmall No smoke and runs like a sewing machine. especialy when a JD grain drill is pushing it.

You come help me and Then I will help put up the fence.:)~})

I assume you are talking about fence.

Gary

Sure is nice to see those wide open spaces. Took the 55 acres behind me and filled it with houses wall to wall. Hal

Ever been to Nebraska, only takes one trip to see why its void of all living things.
My daughter lives near Allen in Chadron, NE.

Wish I could have been there to run that sweet old M and listen to it loaf along with the drill... I sure miss farming. :(

This is the tractor that came from up in your Dad's neck of the woods. Just a nice running old M.

Only thing I don't like about it, is that it sounds a lot like an Allis when at half throttle. Would like to find an authentic muffler for it.

Kinda that 4-pop "barky" sound and it's a little un-nerving to a red feller. :>)

Allan

Allan, what kind of muffler do you have on it? We put a couple new Stanley mufflers on our tractors, but they don't sound as good as they used to. My Dad's 300 has a IH muffler on it and sounds really nice, we also just bought a old IH muffler for my Dad's Super MTA. The old IH mufflers sound good.

Andy

uh oh! is that a john deere i see allan was using? those Ms are sure nice for pulling a grain drill though. talk about seat time on the antiques

That's for sure.

When you're used to the original sound of these things, the aftermarket mufflers just kill the sound of 'em.

I wonder what percentage of the farmall letter tractors are still earning a living. More harm is done to them by parking them than using them. There's sure to be some working when they are a hundred years old.

"Only thing I don't like about it, is that it sounds a lot like an Allis when at half throttle. Would like to find an authentic muffler for it."

Around here, most of those M's wanted to grow up to be Allis WD-45's!!

Maybe yours is going thru "puberty".

You don't see many of them as eye candy round here. Don't know what will happen if people ever stop raise'n tobacco but till then there will always be a job for them. You see some of them rake'n hay but most every tobacco farmer has a lettered farmall or d something ac. I am the one odd ball, nothing like plow'n tobacco with a 960 ford.

Naw,

This is the neighbor's Loadstar. He offered to pick up my seed while he was over at the elevator.

Trying a new seed variety this year. He has been having really good luck with it.

Allan

Fantastic! How many lbs. per acre are you puttin' down? How long between seed fill-ups? That looks like barrels of fun.

I really should get a bigger drill, but I like this little guy 'cause it is so darned accurate and precise.

All this country can stand is about a bushel an acre. Just too darned dry here for much more than that.

So, at that rate, the little drill will plant 11 acres; about two hours worth.

Allan

Geeze allen, I thought maybe you sold the ol M, I havent seen pics of it for so long until now! looking good!. At least you have a little moisture in that field, ours are bone dry, and we no tilled the wheat in this year, hope it rains soon. thanks for the pics!
