We got the hurricane

We got a hurricane. We lost power and part of 3 barns on sunday. Real bad. and it came real fast, i put on a heavy coat and chainsaw helmet and was running around in 60mph winds to rescue helpless gas cans and sheep waterers, and the one running tractor. i ran out there, jumped on it, dumped the clutch and stalled it. Second time the thing took off and managed not to get hit by anything flying around there and i managed to get it in the garage.

This will probabally be my only chance to get online for a while. we lost power along with 200,000 others in the area and they will be working on getting it back to cities and towns before they get to us. I kinda like it, although i"d like a radio and a shower.

Everything in both freezers is a loss, but all the tractors are fine. I was in the garage building birdhouses when it hit. We"re doing fine, we"ve been eating fast food and alot of tomatoes and apples. A country boy can survive!!!!!! This accually is kinda fun, although i miss my friends here at YT. They will restore power on saturday, and i hope to see everyone then.

I know we got off REAL easy compared to others. who else got hit???

I was starting to wonder how bad you got it. We lucked out up here, lost power for a few hours on Sunday and lots of branches and trees down.

Must have been the remnants of Ike ? Sure did not lose any steam, I saw how it broke up on the radar, we got a lot of wind, but that was it, being off the grid sure is interesting, sucks to lose your freezers though, hang tight, only a few more days !

LOL yep. IT aint that bad. I drove a tractor all day sunday and made enough money moving brush to pay a share of the next tractor. Im still tired despite going to bed at 8:30 for lack of anything better to do. those sented candles are nice, unless you light off 6-7 of them in the same room. Theres people who diddnt lose any of it here, and down the road theres the guy who had a tree land on his powerlines which landed on his propane tank in the back yard. Its time to leave my moms office here at work and go back to the dark farm.

Libary-Lost roof. Landed across the street.
Our place-1 barn lost a 10x4 tin section. Have yet to find it. 1 barn that lost the 2 halves of the roof lost the v shaped things that held the roof up. Other barn just dumped shingles all over the place. And lost a huge door. Trees down all over. all over. big mess. Glad to hear youre doing allright.

That wasnt no "Remnents". Atleast it diddnt feel like it. We were expecting the %100 rain but diddnt get a single drop. Nice.

No kidding, rain fizzled out, but the wind did not, never know how these things will pan out, but we usually get varying degrees of winds, and always a soaker when they make it this far.

Same here, 70 mph wind and not a single drop of rain.

Ike combined up with a cold front and raised holy heck!

Here in W. Pa. we had lots of wind. Have been out of power since 9:15 pm Sunday. Our power supply co. sent most of their personel to Texas to help with hurricane recovery. Approx. 240,000 households without power. Crews from New Jersey are doing repair work locally. Power co. says we may have electricity by Friday. If not look to the 1st part of next week. Lucky to have a generator. You can,t find one anywhere, and if you do be prepared to pay bigtime.

Everyone failed to mention how the farmers fared with the crops, did the corn and soybeans get leveled, especially the corn???

Sorry to hear about the damage, but you did say to send the rain, the wind just got caught up with it.

Most of the coast of Texas is wiped clean. Thousands of houses are gone. Several communities are totally wiped out. In one town the only undamaged thing was the water tower.
