O.T. Magazine subscription renewals

Do you fellows out there in the agriculture community agree with resubscribeing 6 months in advance of your magazines expiration Date? A lot of magazines want to you to do that.

I always wait until the last minute. It's a real wonder that I've never missed an issue of any of them, but I guess I get in just under the wire. I'm just too darned cheap to let somebody else hang on to my money.

I find that the longer I wait to renew, the better deals they will send me. Most of my car/pickup mags are around $8-$12 per year for 12 issues.

If I happen to miss an issue, I don't mind.

Whats even worse is that they usually keep sending subscription renewal notices after you've re-subscribed. I imagine they count on people forgetting whether or not they've done it and sending money twice. I've sent in two-year subscriptions sometimes and began getting renewal notices within a couple months of recieving my first issue. Sure a waste of paper and money on their part in my opinion, but it must pay off or they wouldn't do it.

I've quit suscribing thru the magazines themselves; some incredible deals can be had by searching on-line for "cheapest magazine subscriptions" or something similiar. There are many offered on e-bay also, although you may not find the magazines you want.

Successful Farming is so pathetic that they have to give it away. Used to be a good read. I don't subscribe, but they keep sending it- just a vehicle for herbicide and seed advertising. Yes, the early resubscribe is a common thing, also sending a couple of old issues when subscribing, just to back up the sub date. Farm Collector did that to me- I told them why I would never buy another! I guess they were too busy to respond.....

Yep. I think I waited 4 months to renew Successful Farming and they offered a renewal where it came out to a quarter an issue or something like that. I agree its not what it used to be but its still something to look through.

My Mother Past Away A Few Years Ago In May & i Was Receiving her mail, in Jan. or Feb. of the next year She got a bill from Readers Digest for a renewel she had made, I Called Them & asked when it was renewed by her & They Said In Dec.,Over the phone, I Said That Was Strange, she past away in May, They Said they was sorry, don't worry about the bill and they would also take her off the sweepstakes contest. What a bunch of crooks.
