That was yesterday before ike's rain to arrive. Dumped rain gauge last evening so it would not run over durning the night. Starting Firday have 5.2 and still coming down in NE Illinois.

About the same down here at Farmington. I dumped 1.2 for friday and I didnt get the gauge dumped last night but this morning it had 4.2. We had 3.2 in the system just before this. Things are very wet.

Yep here in SE Iowa we have had about 4.5 inches since Friday morning.

Could make for a muddy harvest.

Gary and Bill, I live in the Memphis, MO area. It sounds as though you folks aren't that far from me. We had over 6" of rain yesterday after 4" a couple of days ago. It has been a trying year. Where are you folks located? Mike

You guys can send some up north any time you like. Here in SE MN the last rain to amount to anything was August 14 and that was an inch. Weather service has us ander a moderate drought. On lighter soils the corn is fired and drying up. Pastures are dead and most are feeding cows already. Just can't seem to get out of this dry pattern the last few years.

And it's all headed right for us in mid Michigan! Couldn't buy rain in July and August, now that we're trying to fill silo and take the best cutting of hay that we've had all year,it won't quit. It's been raining for about 52 hours straight now and the eye of Ike hasn't even gotten here yet. Weather prognostacators on the local news last night said it would be mainly south of I-96 today, but they missed the mark. Must be moving too fast to turn quick and is sliding right into us. I think I might as well take about a months vacation. Tractor and chopper are sitting in the field and I wouldn't even dare try to drive it out right now. Gonna be a LONG fall. Bringing back memories of 1986 when we had over 18 inches in September, 12 of that in a 36 hour stretch.

I remember that flood in '86. Only one of two times the boards on my bridge ever floated off. Bridge is two-three feet higher than the banks.

Then came the drought of '88 had corn in the ground in May that didn't sprout till August. Couldn't have kept the seed in better condition in the barn.

It was quite a flood alright. Several roads and bridges were washed out here in Montcalm County, including one state highway. Cows were sinking to there knees in the pastures. We're at about 56 straight hours right now. I just had to go out with the box scraper and pull the slop out of the middle of the feedlot to get things running out across the field. Water from the eves and the driveway was running right back in to the barns. It just keeps picking up and raining harder. The cows even came up from pasture about an hour ago. Guess they've even had about enough of it.At least we're not getting the wind that they're getting south of here.

we had about 4" up here on wis il state since thursday.
that fall of 1986 was pure heck trying to get harvest done. man i worked for never did get his soybeans combined in 1986.
when rain quit it started to snow and made even rougher time.

Hey my uncle has a cottage on Horseshoe Lake in Montcalm county. He had water up to the top of the beds in the cabin. I told him he had a cheap waterbed. Another 3" and the dock would have took out the windows as it floated past. My dad and I took a wagon up behind our pickup while the place was still flooded. We was carrying stuff out to the wagon and I discovered the mattresses would float so we used them as rafts to float the stuff out.

Too bad this rain didn't come a month ago to finish the corn and beans, even getting late for hay. I don't have a rain gauge but we have plenty of water now. Pool is over flowing and looking at some pails I'm guessing about 8" so far as of 5pm Sun. I'm 10miles SW of St Johns.

Every hay field I have scattered around the county has been ready to mow for about three weeks. A couple of the owners are complaining about weeds growing in and wonder why I can't get it cut. Was hoping for just a few more small square bales, but no way they will ever dry this late in the year, going to have to round bale it all now and sell it cheap. After the 5+ inches we had in the last two days on top of the 10+ inches in the last couple weeks it is going to take at least a week B4 water even drains from the fields, let alone really dry enough to hold the tractor. The 1370 and MOCo is setting in 6 inches of water right now in a flat field I thougt drained half decent, but then again the last time I saw this much continual rain was 93. DOUG
