The front of my house is 500 sq. ft,solid count. How many bricks do I need? What is the price for brick layers in your area? I'm in SW florida and they want $1.00 per brick.

Somewhere in the 2250 range. You probably will a few extra. Hal
PS: 4.5 bricks will cover one square foot.

oops calculator was wrong again.

I got app. 1900 using the correct sq. ft. and 1/2 of mortar.
At $1.00 per brick let him have at it. Cheaper than learning how to do it and rent all the equipment.

The number for a wall would be 3750 and for a patio 2250. Your local brick dealer can give an exact amount to buy. Probably need a few extra bricks. Hal

I retired about 5 years ago as an estimator/purchasing agent for homebuilders in the Denver area, so I have experience with this. We figured 7 modular (standard) bricks per square foot and as best I can recall, we were paying about $7.00 per square foot for materials and labor. Of course this was 5 years ago and we were building about 100 houses per year. So if you can get the labor for $1.00 per brick today, on a small job, I'd say the price is about right.

Satndard coursing for brick is three bricks for one eight-inch-block. One block beasures 16" x 8" or 128 square inches. It takes six bricks to cover the block. It takes 6.75 bricks per square foot: 18x16=128. One square foot equals 144 square inches. 144 divided by 128= 1.125x6=6.75 bricks. If you use seven per square foot you'll have 125 extras for mistakes or chips, etc.

7 standard bricks per sq ft, which has already been mentioned, but don't forget all the accessories, like tie backs, weep tubes, flashings etc. check out the link below, these guys offer some great masonry accessories, and there are some 3D graphics showing masonry cavity and or veneer walls, might give you some ideas
