I reecently bought a paslode impulse 325)nail gun) at a yard sale for $40. Only problem is that it's batteries are garbage. I have two questions #1- are the off brand(generic) brand batteries any good? and #2- is there much that can go wrong with these guns.If I was to buy a battery and charge it up and put some gas in it would it most likely work. It appears to be in excellent shape.

I used to work for a guy whose brother managed a salvage yard. They found a Paslode framing nailer (sorry, don't remember the model #) in the trunk of one of their cars. I am a carpenter, so they asked me to see if it worked. Had to spend $40 just to try it (gas and nails), and it appeared to work. They wanted $125 for the gun, so I paid them for it. Used it 3 times before it quit-I would spend as little as possible on it-it was sold for a reason, and it could very possibly be because it does not work, or does not work very well. Greg

The guy that was selling it was selling a whole bunch of tools so I seem to think it should work. He said it was being sold because he and his wife were seperating so I'm praying it works. I'll buy the cheapest battery I can find or is there somewhere that I can test it?

Other than keeping the internals clean it should work just fine....I have both a framing and a finish nailer that I use all the time.... never had any problem with them and are much easier in the far reaches of the farm where there is no power. just make sure that you follow the cleaning instructions or you will have problems. Also you don't have to use the passlode nails, the off brand ones will work.
