fence prices

I need to do some fencing this fall and was looking online at the price of 6 foot T-Post. I couldn"t believe they was $5.09 each. I ran across an old ad I had from September of last year and they were $2.79. That"s a lot of increase in one year. Do y"all these prices will go higher?

I don't know, a few years ago, I was planning on fencing 10 acres. Estimate of $4000 in matieral. Now it would be 10k. Ain't gonna happen.

Yep, steel prices really took off. Around here you can get treated 3.5" posts cheaper than steel posts. I just put up a 6-wire HT fence, about 3000 ft for less than $1/ft (including the fence charger, 2 16 ft gates, etc.) I used treated posts every 30 ft.

I bought about $800 worth of PT fence posts about 5 years ago. One of the best investments I have made.
Unfortunately I did not buy wire at the same time....

I agree with Justin-PA. The cheapest and best fence you can put up is a High tensil electric fence with a post every 30 ft or so. Also you can put these fences up by yourself. No extra labor required once you get use to it. I put up about a mile of it around 10 years ago using posts and H braces made out of 4" sawed locust stakes. Not very expensive at all at the time and never had any problems with it. All I have to do is change fuses in the electric box after lightning storms.

I bought mine from farm king, a local area farm supply store. They had 6.5 foot 1.33 lb posts for 4.30 each. I will have to look next time I go how much they have gone up.

The posts at TSC are junk the lighter 1.25 lb posts. I have snapped several just pulling them out by hand.

Don't blame you! Been years since I messed with any field fence, did not realize it had gotten that out of hand. I wint to HT years ago because it was faster and esier, then figured it was alot cheaper, just did not think it was that much cheaper.

Thank goodness I bought my material earlier this year. I paid $35 per roll for 2 point barbed wire and $3.15 for 5.5 ft 1.33 steel posts. I bought pleant of each and I am just about done and will have some materials left over. Bud
