Bobcat skidloader

Can anyone offer any suggestions here? I have a 773 Bobcat skidloader and have been losing some hydraulic fluid. I am now not able to angle the bucket. It will go up and down, but that is it. Any idea, no matter how crazy is appreciated. Please help.

Is this with bucket loaded or empty? Does the pedal work back/forth or is it locked? If it works does it pull the engine down like its trying to work? Course a blown hose would keep it from working 1 direction but that would be a major leak.

Mysterious missing oil (barring any obvious leaks) can often be found by removing the front plug to check the level of chaincase oil. Oftentimes you find them overfull which indicates a leaking drive motor carrier seal, no way to know which one it is so have to do both unless you take a stab at it and get lucky.

If a hyd. motor is leaking in the chain case, you can tell by taking the level/fill plug out. I'm not sure how a Bobcat chain case is filled, but I had that problem on my Thomas. There was so much oil in the one chain case that I thought I needed an axle seal. 10 litres too much oil! I didn't want to try to fix it out in the boonies with no shop, so I took it in. Sadly ( read: expensively) I needed more than just a seal kit. I needed a new wheel motor. This wouldn't affect the bucket cylinder only though. Check the linkage for the control valve and see if the valve spool is moving in and out properly. There could be dirt or something preventing the valve from moving. I have had that happen as well. I clump of hard clay got jammed under the foot pedal. I don't know if you have hand or foot controls but if there is no external leak, I'd check the valve for proper movement first. If the hyd. oil got really low, everything would quit working and several expensive parts could get wrecked. Dave

It should say A clump of dirt, not I clump. I reread your post. You're losing hyd. oil? If it's external that's your problem. One of the lines for the bucket cylinder has a leak. It could be a rubber hose, fitting, or steel line from the control valve. Also make sure that your aux. hyd. aren't engaged. Some times that can prevent another function from working properly.
