timing 8n after crankshaft removal

I had to remove the crankshaft to have it ground. my question is what are the steps to re-install it keeping the timing as it was? I did not remove the pistons. I am having a hard time locating the index marks on the cam gear and the crank gear.

Thanks for any help

You might try asking on the ford 9n forum further down the page, they have more ford experince than most of us................

Why didn't you mark them before taking it apart? Time it so when the # 1&4 piston is at TDC the valves on those are closed and one will be just closing the ex and just opening the intake.
