Just looked at that Deutz 8006

Wow, never really looked at on before. It's a mid 70's. BIG TALL new front tires( only a 2WD), rears look to be 18.4x38, only about 30-40%, 540/1000 pto, diff lock, lots of gears, lots of fluid in tires, sheet metal was near perfect, pollished stainless exhaust and muffler, real heavy duty 3point, Does need a new seat, was ussually stored indoors, oil changed every 150 hours, needs a battery. He says it uses 3 GPH, says she is all of 80hp + a few ponies, has the fenders intact and dentless. He says $3000 he'll let it go, I think I can get if for $2800 if I make the rear tires and batteriy an issue. Original owner, was also a friend of my ma's family for life. I am also dealing with him on a 14'+/- MF 520 adjustable disk and a IH 45 16'(?) feild cultivator with all new shovels that had never have been in the ground. I need some help on what the disk and digger are worth so I can toss him a fair offer. I also made a deal for another 18', heavier than "Soiux" gate for $75 and he is tossing in a loading chute that will work for cattle with a little hieght added to the sides. What do you guys think?

I've got a 520 Massey with folding wings, make it a 20ft. If I remember right,I gave 1200 for it. As for the Deutz, the neighbor bought a new 10006 in the early 70s. That thing was in the shop so much the first year that I honestly forgot that he'd bought it. He got it back and was driving it down the road,it started bogging down. He stopped, took off the transmission filler cap and smoke rolled out of it.Back to the shop for several more months. When he finally traded it off, there was a log chain and binders holding the drawbar on. Whatever the metal was that the rearend housing was made of,was so soft, the bolts pulled the threads right out of it. Turned me right off from ever wanting one.

Don't know about the tractor or disc or how they sell in MN, but around 'here' field cultivators are worth very little more than scrap. I've seen 24 ft ones go for $100............

Deutz tractors have a very good reputation around here- for durability and fuel economy. Call Leander- former dealer- 764-7503, for his take on them. He's a half-hour SW of you- local call from STC. FC, that size- IH45- used to be very popular, now worth a few hundred bucks. Biggest issue is shank assemblies getting loose on the frame, mushrooming and not able to tighten up again. Did good work though.

I have a 14' MF 520 disc that I paid $900 for about 4 years ago. I have an 18' IH 45 that I paid $550 for last year, if that helps.

I worked for an irrigation contractor for 4 years in the mid 70's. He had an 8006 that we used to pull a very large trailer vibrating plow-to pull in irrigation pipe. He bought the Deutz because it had the creeper range in it. I put lots of hours on that thing, sometimes pulling pipe in clay soil with duals on it. More often than not, had to steer with the brakes as the front was off the ground most of the time. I was very impressed with the power, low fuel consumption, and how cool it ran pulling like that.

Second in-too-deep. Duetz seem to be good tractors, but parts support may be iffy. I'd rather have your Oliver 1750.
