Ron's wife

Hi My husband is looking for a crank for the above mentioned tractor. The distributor won"t stop on the high side. Does anyone have info on this?
Thanks,
Kathy

if its got a distrubutor, good luck cranking it.

I know a guy whos distributor wont kick off (some switch mabey??) and he takes the cable off the battery to kill it.

He needs the hand crank to turn engine so as to stop distributor on the high side to set points.
Can"t bump starter and catch the high side.
Need to know where to purchase a hand crank.

You could do the same thing by turning over the fan belt. I do that all the time on a w6. A crank is nice when the battery goes low. Just crank and drive.

Oh, my bad.

I bet if you tried the photo ads you would find one. Ive bought and sold alot from on there.

If all you are wanting to do is to have it stopped with points opened you can do it with the belt pulley. Years ago i was drilling wheat with a "B" that had a bad battery and I had lost the grank in the field. I just started the tractor by turning the belt pulley.

couldnt you just wedge a screwdriver in the pulley???

Turn the belt pulley???

Turn ignition off, put in gear, push???

you can get a new starting crank from oem tractor parts in chenoa illinois. oemtractorparts.com, they are about 40 dollars or so. call em at 800-283-2122 . their part number is 53385dbx

Ron should be able to do it by turning the fan belt (as long as it has good tension on it) as others have suggested.

That said, and to answer your question, cranks can be had at OEM Tractor parts.

Jack up a rear wheel and watch for the right spot while husband turns the wheel. He might try to use the crank to start the engine, one kickback gets you a broken thumb, wrist, arm or nose.
