Ford 801 serial numbers

I would like to ask if someone could tell me where the serial numbers are on a Ford 801 tractor. I "ve got the numbers for the model years but can"t seem to find them on the tractor

As stated right behind the starter at the outer edge of the casting. If it is like my 961 and has spent most of its life outside without being repainted, rust could have made it hard to read. I had two numbers that were just rust pits.

Easy to find. Do this. Lay your left hond on the front tire, your right hand on the clutch. Look down theres a flat spot there that has 2 holes under it. The numbers are there and will sort of look like this
841

The top numbers tell you the modal 801 it is, could be one of 5 or 6 of them. 841 is a 4 speed with non-live PTO 851 is a 5 speed non live, 861 is live PTO. 871 and 881 are SOS with live PTO, then theres a few others

Thanks alot the site you provided was perfect. I now know I got a 1958 model 801 172ci gas.
Thanks again

Nope - you do not have an 801 exactly. There needs to be a middle number - not zero.

Many folks will consider you have an 801 series tractor, fair enough. But Ford never made a tractor that was an 801.

The middle number is important in determining what options you have on the machine. Best to use the full number when giving it's model number.

I have a 960 Ford, which most Ford folks can figure out exactly what options & tractor I have. :)
