Vapor Lock?

I have a Wheel Horse 1054. Bought new in 65 by brother-in law.
After mowing a couple of hours it shuts off and wont restart until a cooling off. Engine is clean and has the correct oil.It acts like it vapor locks. Any suggestions?

Or a failing coil in the ignition. Try cooling the carb with a water spray from the outside to see if it can be made to run longer. Also you can check cold spark jumping ability to the spark when it quits in ability to jump a given gap held against the block. JimN

Can be bad coil,oil film on points from leaking oil seal,valves need adjusted, blown head gasket,or rings shot causing loss of compression when hot. Check fuel tank for anything that may plug line when engine is running,check fuel filter,check fuel cap for vent.These are some of the things that will cause your problem. Good Luck.
