G'Day folks.

I'm looking for some help here. Does anyone know of a website here you find out here a particular vehicle is made? I don't mean assembled, but the where the vast majority or percentage of the parts are made.

Being Canadian, I would like to support our own people first. We have alot of small parts plants here and we do assemle some.

One of the ones I was looking at was the GMC Acadia/ Satun Outlook. I understand that they are assembled in Lansing, but where the heck do the pieces come from?

Thanks
Hound

There are several small companies that make parts for GM,Ford.and Crysler.

One of the biggest is based out of Canada but has plants all over the US, Canada and Mexico.

You know it as Magna.

But there are 3 plants within 25 miles of here that make auto parts.

Some of the parts are probably made over seas as well.

This isn't an answer to you're question, but we bought a GMC Acadia 8 months ago and we are very happy with it. Rides great, good visibility, feels safe for the wife and newborn. It won't get the 24 mpg they advertise, but it's not bad. The best we have gotten yet is 21.5, several tanks at 60-65 miles per hour hiway ride

I don't know if Saturn still has this web site. try it They will answer your questions. I do know that the Saturn model that replaces the Ion is being made in Belguim.
Saturn's web site is Saturn.com

Tells you on the sitcker of the car. If the engine is made in China like most pontiacs, then, you obviously don't want that.

Don't know if this will help but the VIN'S first digit identifies code and country of origin on the following chart:

Code/Country of Origin
1 United States
2 Canada
3 Mexico
4 United States
5 United States
6 Australia
9 Brazil
J Japan
K Korea
L Taiwan
S England
V France
W Germany
Y Sweden
Z Italy

The words “from which the largest share of the dollar value added to . . . has originated” are substituted for “in which 50 percent or more of the dollar value added of . . . originated. If no country accounts for 50 percent or more of the dollar value, then the country of origin is the country from which the largest share of the value added originated” for clarity and to eliminate unnecessary words. This includes the cost of materials and the machining of those materials “plus the assembly and labor costs incurred for the final assembly of such engines and transmissions” and other subassemblies.

Happened to look at a Chevy HHR yesterday. There is a spot on the window sticker that tells you where it is assembled and the percent content from various countries.
