Does anyone know if a Ford 8n has hydraulics, or a three point hitch? I was told they just had a draw bar. I was thinking about buying one.
Thanks
Jason

The 8n came standard with a 3pt hitch. Remotes were not an option and the hydraulics stop with the clutch (not live). Most 8n's do not have a swinging drawbar.

If the tractor has a brake on the same side as the clutch you are looking at a 9n or a 2n. These 2 tractors had most of the same features as the 8n, but were less sophisticated. Also only a 3spd transmission, compared to a 4spd on the 8n.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys. The farmer wants 500.00 for it and said there is no rust and it runs so I am thinking its a good deal. I have not idea what these are worth so I guess I"ll give it a shot.

Sounds hard to beat for $500. Around here $1200 for one that runs is pretty common, $2000 is average.

Take a look at the tires, they can be expensive to replace. Also see if you can lift something with the 3pt. A lot of 8n's have worn out hydraulics and won't hold any weight. Everything is repairable, its just time and money to get there.

$500 is dirt cheap for one that runs. But if the tires are bad it will cost you another $500 plus to replace them. Or if the engine smokes bad around $1500 or more to rebuild the engine
