Trying to be like Lanse...

Well, I brought home another tractor today. This 1940 Allis B is probably pretty close to the condition of the one Lanse is working on.

It's complete, just needs some assembly (and engine work). My wife just rolled her eyes when she saw it in the garage. I suppose I don't actually need 6 tractors... but I really like having them...

6 IS NOT ENOUGH. I know because I only have 3. I passed up an Allis CA at an auction saturday because someone had scabbed a B wishbone front end on it. Good luck with the new B. Mike

hey, i have a fan club :)

Good luck with it. I am (despite colorful language) hoping to get mine back together soon.

Youre lucky, yours doesnt need 3 new rims and 3 new tires, and you can drive as opposed to me going 4 miles to town by bike and risking getting my @$$ hit by some idiot going 30 miles over the speed limit, then paying way too much for whatever at the local stores, then 4 miles home.

I kind of like my B, and for some reason, it is the only one i havent completally lost all patience with.

Seriously, good luck with yours. Those things look really cool. Enjoy, and i have some parts to unload pretty cheap. My B came with a bunch of extras

Ya but Old, you live so far back in the woods they pump sunlite into you. So ya need all them tractors just to run the pumps...hhhhmmmm

Wouldn't want ya to have ta play in the dark

ROTFLMAO

What does the need for a tractor have to do with it? I think I have 80 around here now but I only need one. It is a lot of fun to tare down 3 and put togather one. and have enough parts to start on another one.

Well hurry up and get one up and running and then you can drive it into town for parts for the others.

That is kind of how I started. 4 out of my 6 tractors run, I figure that is a pretty good ratio. I use one for 3pt work, one for cultivating, one for disking, and one for mowing. I am passively accumilating the pieces to put my Case DC parts tractor back into a working order.

For the Allis, I'm thinking lawn mower and tractor pulls. I have wanted to learn more about building engines and the B is much more user friendly than the Case D's I'm used to (cheaper on parts too).

It is not a "need" thing, I refer to is as greed. :-o. I only have 9 tractors, 2 hit n miss engines, 6 throttle governed McCormick Deering engines, 10 Cub Cadet tractors, and untold number of old cast iron air cooled engines.
