heres the crop report from the field. corn is looking good, ears are filled out nice, starting to fire already. jap beetles ate a lot of the silk off the ears, but they still look good, should do 200bu.ac if all goes well. beans are podded out good, no aphids, sprayed couple weeks ago. havent seen any sudden death either. jap beetles are chewing away still on the leaves, seems like the headlands are the worst. heres some pics. north central illinois.

In central IL, beans are podded, 3 beans to a pod, look good, did not count pods per plant, but looked good. Pulled a couple ears of corn, looked good....until I peeled them back, kernals look small, cobs are white, starting to dent a little and were short about an inch of being filled out. Stand and population look good. Have to see what comes out of the combine this fall.

cut the tips off the 2nd and 3rd finger of that hand in a hammermill feedgrinder when i was about 16, the doc sewd em back on pretty good. cut the end all up on the 3rd finger again with a dewalt cordless circular saw about 7 years ago. and.......shot a framing nail thru that thumb with an air nailer. paws are still holding up pretty good!!!!

Should do 200 bu/ac if all goes well! Must be nice. We hope for 130 bu/ac and when all goes well he may hit 160 bu/ac. Darn sand anyways.

Last week was from Decatur IL to SW of Champaign on top of an elevator. Lots of short beans and lots and lots of drowned out places. Some places looks like 5 acre holes. Friday went to Nashville IL crops look much better to me even for the very late start. Still better hope for a late frost.
