What are some small pre-1960 diesel tractors?

I'm looking for help in compiling a list of small, 1960 and earlier diesel tractors. Unfortunetely, there weren't that many made, as most of that vintage were either gasoline powered or medium to large sized diesel tractors. Still though, there were a few made that were kind of smallish (for a diesel anyway) if you stop and think hard about it, and I've got a short list started. Please feel free in adding any that you can think of to help me flesh out the list that I might be missing...
You can go a few years later than 1960 if you need to, but not much.

What I have so far are:

-Oliver 66 D
-Oliver Super 55
-Ford 2000 Diesel
-Ford 641 D
-Oliver Super 66 Diesel
-Oliver 550 Diesel
-Ford 851 Diesel
-Ford 841 Diesel
-Ford 681 D
-Massey-Ferguson MF 35 Diesel
-Case 531 Diesel
-International B-275 Diesel
-John Deere 435 Diesel

Are there any others you can think of?

Many thanks

They were all small compared to today's tractors. Where are you going to draw the line on size?

John Deere 70,80,720,820,730,830
Massey Harris 33( a few built),44,55,444,555-there are others as well that I know that were built by Massey
Ford 900 series Ford Major
Cockshut(sp?) 570 and others that I can't recall
Oliver 77,88
Farmall M,SM,W6,W9,560,660

I'm just including diesels with 35 horse or less. tThere are many more made before 1960 if you go up to 50 horse.

I can add a few that I owned or still own. Allis Chalmers ED-40. As - in reference to the IH B-275 you mentioned - there was a B-250 diesel that preceded it.

Also, the Farmaster FD-33 - with a 23 horse diesel engine made in 1949. Porsche Junior made in 1959 with an 11 horse diesel. John Deere 1010 diesel made in 1960. Intercontinental DF made 1952. Fiat 411-R made in 1959. Farmal 340 made 1960. Farmal MD made 1951. Massey Harris 333 made 1955. Nuffield Universal Three made 1957. David Brown 850 and 950 made 1958. John Deere 440 ID. Massey Ferguson TO-35 in 1959. Ford Dexta in 1958.

If you are counting crawlers - a Cat D2, Oliver OC3 or OC4, IH TD-5 and TD-340, AC HD3, etc.

I dont think any of the jd 80,820,and 830 can be considered small, heck the ground shakes when they run. bill m.

Hehe.....ain"t that truth! I"d say the pony motor (if it were diesel) would qualify:)!

Personally, I"d call 30 horsepower as tops, for the "small diesel" category of the pre 1960 era. America was still in love with the gasoline engine up till then, and the diesel hadn"t yet taken over. The US military was still using gasoline powered tanks (M48A1). They were very efficient...3 GPM (gallons per mile)!!! This information came from an old tank commander of that era....my dad (1957-59).

The McCormick Deering WD-40 comes to mind built in the 30s but just borderline at 38hp and just a few were made very rare I only knew of one left.

(quoted from post at 05:56:51 08/09/08) Where are you going to draw the line on size?

I would say the Oliver 70/77/Super 77/770 is where I draw the line since it was considered Olivers medium sized tractor and both it and the 60/66/Super 66/660 were availible with diesel engines and the later was considered their "small" tractor.

By the way, thanks for all the ideas everyone.

In 1953 CASE was selling the 500 diesel. This was the old LA with a new CASE 6 cylinder direct start diesel. Nebraska tractor test no 614 in 57 was a CASE 300 with a Continental diesel, 27.1 hp on the belt.
