4020 3pt problem

The 3 point on my 4020 does not go all the way up most of the time. It goes about 90% of the way and then stops. Sometimes I'll hit a bump or go down a grade and it goes up the rest of the way. My guess is that this is some linkage problem. Does anyone know what this is and how difficult it is to fix?

I've been living with it for years so if it's a complicated fix, I'll probably just keep living with it.

There are adjustments on these. Even a cheap I&T manual covers it. This is where you should start along with checking for worn out or binding linkage & cables.

Could be as simple as pulling the right-hand cover off the rockshaft and putting the control arm pin in the other hole of the cable, or............pull the plug from the housing (half inch drive extension just below where your hoses plug in--right side); stick a 9/16 inch socket in there onto the nut; push in to clear the roll pin and turn one way or the other; can't remember which way to accomplish what you're trying to do; listen to Mike and get a manual; ask buickanddeere what the phone number is to order a JD manual. Weld, glue, tape, braze, whatever........the socket to the extension.

Depends on side console or not side console. The three point controls are considerably different between them. Side console may have linkage, previous to side console used a push-pull cable and its know to get rusty and restrict motion at the three point valve under the seat. Mine did. New cable properly installed fixed it.
