longer lift arms

i have a ford 860 tractor. i would like to put longer lift arms on it. the ones now measure 32 1/2" and already have had the extended ends put on them. are there any other lift arms like massey, etc. that will work ? only need a couple more inches.

I am going to ask this question before anyone else. Why do you want to put longer lift arms on? The tractor is designed to work safely with those. You are changing the geometry that the lift is designed with.

Agreed. As I learned on here some time ago, the force is multiplied as you keep getting longer. Would a shorter center link make your implement fit better with shorter arms? Or was this implement designed for a heavier tractor with more clearance for the rear tires?

need the couple extra inches due to getting new bush hog and the 3 pt attachment on it and all the ones i have looked at set even with the frame.this makes new hog set close to tires and only lift a couple feet. the old bush hog , the attachment sat a couple inches in front of the frame and also had a strap and chain hookup to raise or lower the back end. none of the new ones have this set up anymore

I put longer lift arms on my Kubota L245 because my finishing mower was too close to my tires. I did not have any geometric problems. They also work fine with my Bush Hog. I also used a longer top link.

get your self a three point quick hitch that will give you about 4in. and when you don't need it you just take it off harbor fright tools has a cat1 for like 70.00 on sale have one on one of my to-20s and like it

I'd go with the quickhitch or Pat's Easy Change or some such.

I was going to mention the geomitry stuff this morning, but didn't know how to word it right, sometimes I come off kinda gruff. :)

Longer arms can't lift as much weight, and you'll need a longer toplink as well, so there are tradeoffs.

My 960 has never had problems with anything, seems like they stick put there fine. Surprised there is a problem.....
