460 long lift problems

My long 460 lift will not work. Any suggestions. Also where is the screen located that some suggest to clean when troubleshooting

Filter is in hydraulic line near starter. If it has the old type filter, it has a steel mesh cartridge, or screen, in a round container in the line under the starter. Newer models have a regular throwaway cartridge. The older type may be cleaned and reused, but often they are so clogged they need replacing. There also is the same type filter in the power steering reseivoir BTW.

It's a good idea to change the oil in the transmission while you are at it. There are two oil plugs in the transmission case.

There are some copper crush washers in the system that sometimes need replacing. I had to do that a couple of times, but I don't remember the location. Ask a long dealer, or and old oliver dealer or whit dealer, now an AGCO dealer. Also allis chalmers imported some of those fiat design tractors.

It's possible the hydraulic pump is bad. They cost several hundred dollars, so maybe something else will work. Good lick.

It may just be air in the system. You can purge the air by plugging in an open ended fitting into one of the the remote lines and hold the remote lever down until the oil starts to shoot out.

I got ahold of a 350 Long with lift problems. It turned out to be the vent for the housing was stopped up the pump could not pull oil from the sump.

You may want to read this article on what they found wrong on their 460 hydraulics. Hal
