I recently restored a W-4 and a WD-9 McCormick tractors. Can anyone tell me if there should be a black knob on the throttle like there is on the gear shift? How about on the Gas trip lever on the WD-9? Thanks for your help. Forever RED!

No black knobs on the WD-9 on the throttle lever or the gas/diesel changeover lever. At least not on the one that was Dad"s.

I still have my Dad's 1951 MD, and the 1953 WD9, We had three WD9's at different times. The 1953 WD9 was the second one and traded for because I started working the fields. It had a hand clutch and at the age of 9 I couldn't push the foot clutch. One of the other WD9's we had (don't remember the year)the change over lever worker just opposite. The lever was up for Diesel. 5550Ron is correct NO knobs.

Maestro; I have a 1950 W4.The gas lever is capped with a round BLACK knob. They sure are fun to have, drive, and just look at every day when you walk passed them!! W4
