Water in oil JD D 1945

Im looking at a JD D the owner said it has an internal water leak what could I be up against $$ he thought it might be a head gasket some knowledge with this would be appreciated.

I would be skeptical. I don"t know nothing about 2 bangers, but i do know that a dollar won"t buy much so be prepared to spend the bucks for a major rebuild on that old heifer. Old tractors are like a high maintenance women. BTDT

I would venture to guess that it is the head gasket. Not real probable that it is a crack in the block, but possible. It could also be that the push rod tubes are leaking. That is a real common problem on the 2 bangers.

Be prepared to find cracks. This stuff is old the metal is old and they have had alot of owners to neglect them over the years. Then if your lucky it may only be a gasket.

Plan on replacing either a head or block or both.Pretty much got to be one or the other or a head gasket. Don't count on a cheap fix and you won't be unpresently surprised. BTDT.
