Re: Westendorf Loader Opinions?

Westendorf makes a good loader. Too many unknowns for me to use the site such as no cab, 4x4, 4x2.

I have a lot of friends that have westendorf loaders. That being said, I DO NOT and WILL NOT own a westendorf. Go buy a big John Deere, such as an 840 or an older 265 or something. Best loader on the market by far. Even the old 158 is better than any new westendorf. I've seen too many welded back together to ever recommend one to someone. My .02.

JD loaders may be ok if you have that make tractor. Not any good if you want it to fit anything else.

I have had a Westendorf loader on my IH 806 since I bought the tractor 15 years ago. No repairs , no problems , no complaints. Moved some really big bales with the spike on it. No problem. Moved alot of shotrock with it. I have never taken it off and put it back on , but I think that is also fairly simple.I would reccomend them. Comes from Ottawa , Iowa . Made in the USA ?

I dont know where you are located, but here in Mo there is a place that'll rebuild such things for you very reasonably.ACME Hydraulics in Kansas City,Mo.They resealed and inspected my Hydraulic Pump on my 400 farmall for 75 bucks. The seals on my loader rams cost 5 bucks there

I've never had a Westendorf, but I think they are pretty well regarded. Probably the best aftermarket brand.

However, when I was shopping for my latest loader tractor, I did see a description of a tractor w/westendorf loader as "welds in the usual westendorf places".

I ended up getting a JD 2950 with a JD 260 loader and I can tell you that those need the welds too :)

Hard to beat for a work horse. The one I know of has been used to drive untold thousands of steel post with the use of the bucket. Replaceing the O ring in the cylinders is a pain.
