Farmall C live PTO or not

I am new to tractor restoration. I found a super c. The man says it has live pto, but allmy research says it doesnt. How can I know for sure? Once again, I am new to this so any info will help. I thought that if he gets the tractor moving, then pushes in the clutch all the way with the pto on and the tractor still moving that if the ptoturns then it is not live, is there a better way?

Ask the guy if he has an over running clutch on it, or if it has a hand clutch (if MW made one for the C). Also ask him for his definition of Live PTO.

Live PTO is when the PTO runs regardless of if the clutch is pushed, unless its a 2 stage clutch, which the C doesnt have.

Yeah but there are often no obvious remote ports on the hydraulic system. I know I grew up around a Super C and never knew until a couple weks ago that it had hydraulics-I just assumed the rockshafts moved by mechanical means beyond my knowledge.

A Farmall C does not have live PTO. A quick and easy way to find out if any tractor has live PTO is to engage PTO, push in clutch, start tractor, if PTO does not turn, let out clutch, it PTO turns then, the tractor does NOT have live PTO.
