Sherman transmission for Ford 8N, 9N, 2N source??

Can anyone suggest a source for finding a Sherman transmission for the early 50's Ford 8N, 9N, and 2N? I am looking for the Sherman transmission that has a low range that slows the tractor down for running a tiller.

Thanks.

Mike

For tiller use, you want a "Howard" auxillary transmission.

The Sherman slows down the PTO, as well as the ground speed, while the Howard slows down the ground speed only.

Mike,

Bob has it exactly right. Your PTO is transmission driven. Since the Sherman 'splits' your main transmission to change groundspeeds, your PTO is effected by the same ratio.
You need an aux trans that goes BEHIND your main trans. Howards are the most likely choice since they provide the correct gearing speeds for 'rototilling' with 'N's but there are others that are even more rare, bizzare, and extreme.
I only know of one Howard for sale. It is incomplete and, therefore, unusable. I'm working on a deal. I'll post if successful.

That's a lot of time and work just to end up with a gasoline powered tractor without live pto, poor brakes, no drawbar, no hydraulic remotes, no diff lock, no rops, no power steering and very limited loader capability.
Sell the Ford and purchase a hydrostatic Deere 2305. The 2305 will also pull the Ford around like a toy.
