turn signals

Left turn signals , brake lites and 4 way flashers work ok but when you signal for a right turn, all 4 lites flash. Is the turn signal switch bad or wires crossed somewhere? This is on a 1978 Ford F100 pickup.

Check all the grounds & bulbs / sockets good . Clean all contact points & lube with a dielectric grease . I'll bet that'll be your problem . God bless, Ken

Look for broken ground wires between the cab and chassis and bed and chassis. I saw that one summer about 1970 while working a bit for my uncle with a body shop. I ran a new ground wire from the bed to the frame and cab and fixed it.

Also check for broken grounds at the multiple purpose fixtures.

I had this happen once on a 1985 F-150 a few years ago. The truck had one of those trailer light adapters in the back harness and the ground wire that came off of it has become loose and was corroded between the terminal and the frame.

Good Luck

Thanks for all the help. This truck had been last used 10 years ago and was given to us by a friend. It is a project for my youngest son. I thought too it could be a bad ground because of sitting so long. My son found it himself and feels good now. The problem was , someone put a single element bulb in the rear socket that should have a double. The center terminal of the bulb must be wide enough to contact both the tail lite and signal lite curcuits.
