First picture says it all. Back up and running.

Ripped open that freight box, grabbed the little card and dropped 'er in the machine. Darned outfit booted right up, but the silly alarm horn sounded continually because it was seeing two "0" drives.

Reconfigured the SCSIs; it shut up and we're running again.

Second picture is of that new $8K server, which is now being used as a large paper weight to hold down the carpet. :>(

Hope you don't have a dog inside that will come lift his leg on that $8,000 machine.

Computers are great when they work, right?

Mine keeps telling me that I am running short on memory.

Too many pictures I think. Can I put another storage area on this thing or should I think about another puter?

Sorry Pard,

My brain is just about fried numb over this latest ordeal.

I can tell you tho, that storage is not the same as memory.

Any computer tech can plug ya in more memory. It is cheap nowadays too. :>)

I have 50 computers running everything from a 3D printer, A laser engraver, and a CNC router, to a 4'X8' CNC Plasma Torch. They take up 30% of my time just keeping them ready and operational for student use. They do cause substantial pain. A Raid fault in the controller is a single point failure point in what is supposed to be a redundant foolproof baskets of eggs. Not so. Glad you are up. Jim

Cuttin' wheat yet?? Finished mine up saturday evening, 22 b/a overall. Probably woulda gone 30 cept for a little hail just before the 4th- least I had some to cut and had a good contract on most of it. OK I'll quit my bi**hn' now.

I spent most of the morning head scratching about my file/hole/sheared off brass/head thingy, and thought i should just give up on it. So i called Bill (hillbillyOH) the last owner of my C and asked him about switching heads to the old one i got when i got that tractor. He said he diddnt think it was a good idea, and we tried to figure out this little problem.

Out of the blue he suggested i hammer that file the rest of the way in there, then use an easy out, then fish the file out. BRILLIANT!!! I shoulda called sooner. The file is in there still, but i can fit an easy out in as well. Welp, its 92 here, and here i go sevral miles to town to get this stupid thing. THANKS BILL!!

Well Alan, I count myself pretty savvy when it comes to the home computer. However, you are considerably over my head with your servers, scsi's, and all. I am happy to see that you have a supplement for your farming habit.

Looking forward to more pics from that Gleaner and the Reds.

Keep it up!

Aaron

Welcome to the world of "DR" (Disaster Recovery). You might want to look into using that other server as a hot standby for the next time something like this happens (not *if* it happens again, *when* it happens again).

I'm working a staggerin' backlog load of work now and then I just plain gotta get some rest. So tired that I can't even feel my toes anymore. :>(

But I'm here to tell ya, just as soon as possible, I think one of those old Gleaners might get a good workout in a wheat field. :>)

Remember to take the tax deduction. Too bad you can't get a deduction for wear and tear on the nervous system.

Allan, you've probably said before but what is it you do with that type of computer? Or is it highly classified national security stuff that you would have to kill me after you told me? Just wondering. Mike
