Went for a walk the other day. Did a lap around the beans. Noiced that deer damage was not nearly as bad as I expected. A 1.3 acre field that has woods and creek on one side and old tree line on the two other sides was the only place where damage was noticeable. County or two south of me last summer they had some sickness going around that was caused by the drought. Never seen any sick or dead ones round here and there seemed to be plenty round this winter.

Any one else noticed a change in deer numbers this summer?

S.E. IN. , I have a real nice 20 acre alfalfa OG. field and it`s full every evening , 75 or more . In the winter I`ve counted well over 100 several times . It has a creek on one side and good cover on the other so there`s likly that many more real close .

There are places like that here. I was just realy supprised at how little they had eaten the beans. I have not seen many this summer, haven't had time to look around the farm. I have not seen as many as normal between work and home as I normaly do.

In a week or two the beans will be big nuff that they won't hurt'm too bad.

Thanks, and keep most of them deer on that side of the river if you don't mind. :)

Cant remember what they called it but heard about the deer dieing here last yr. too . Heard you would find them around water holes . I kinda kept a check on the water holes but never seen a dead one . They said if you seen one with it you would know it .

Same thing we had here, can't recall the name of it but it got nasty just a little south of me. Buddy of mine pulled 8 out of the stripper pit on his place so the cows could drink the water.

I never found any dead'ns here. Saw the normal amount this winter (fixed the normal amount of hot wire fence too!!!) just not seeing as many this summer as normal.

Always looking for more places to deer hunt. If any one is open allowing myself and some family members reducing your deer herd in the fall, please email me. I cant travel to far, keep that in mind please. Email is open. We are ethical and always leave places better than we find them.

We have them in our yard. Some mornings I have to wait for them to move out of the driveway so I can leave for work. They're not really tame, but probably feel safer around our yard than taking their chances with cougars in the woods.
