That is a good site for buying and selling and free. I advertised a house on it a couple months back and sold the house. I was wandering how they get their funding to operate a national website? Does anyone know?

As of 2007, Craigslist operates with a staff of 24 people.[2] Its sole source of revenue is paid job ads in select cities ($75 per ad for the San Francisco Bay Area; $25 per ad for New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, Seattle, Washington D.C., Chicago and recently Portland, Oregon) and paid broker apartment listings in New York City ($10 per ad).

I heard an interview with the (one of the?) founders of Craigslist recently, and he was pressed a bit about why they don't make "more of" the web site in terms of making money.

His attitude was basically ..... we feel that we provide a great service to the world that many people apprieciate, we are happy doing what we do, and we make a lot of money now, we could probably make ga-billions but it wouldn't be fun anymore, and how much money does one person need anyhow.

I consider people like that to be modern heros in their own way.
