McCormick #27V Mower

Evenin' Folks,
Asked a few weeks ago about a sickle-bar mower I'd recently bought. A bit of digging has proven it to be a McCormick #27V of the 7-foot variation. I found 3 pictures in the YT Implement Photos, but they're a bit small to be of much use...

I'd like to get some good pictures of the mower overall, the lift mechanism, locations of any graphics, etc. Anything that would be of use. Pictures posted here would be good (as they might help people down the road), but my e-mail would work, too. It's included at the bottom of the message for those using the "Classic" View option. I plan to use this behind my Super-C once both are home and working.

Cheers, and thanks for the help! This site has proven to be a great reference many times over!

I am also rebuilding a 27V but will use it on a B Farmall. There were two ways to lift, one was a manual lever and the other was a cylinder and used the tractor's hydraulics. Since the B has the operator's seat on the RH side of centerline and does not have hydaulics, I will need to modify my lift lever into he B arraignment. The lever that I currently have is for the C, H, or M.

My mower has a bent shaft that attaches between the drive casting and the pitman casting where the bar bolts. (the sickle pivot casting) This is giving me negative lead in my sickle bar. It took awhile but I finally decided that the casting was threaded on to the shaft. I unbolted the bar, removed the lift chain and spun the casting off. Next step is to straighten.

We had a 25V for the B when growing up but Dad traded it for a JD #8 for the JD A. Wish I had it back.

I recently purchased a spare rear hub and a good rim from a junk yard that is selling their stuff to the scrap iron dealers. It will all end up in China.

CNH dealer can print out pictures on parts of the mower you are working on.I got an original manual on ebay.

The manifolds are the same just need the pressure valve that threads on the top where the pipe is now for themuffler. Lots of the As andBs still have the stuff there i just thought your mite still have them. I use the system on a plow and have two other tractors with cults with the system.

Yes, I had forgotten about the smoke lift. There was a valve that screwed into the exhaust mainifold below the muffler, a valve that attached to the side of the tank bracket to lower (I think), and a lever that ran back to the operator's station. The smoke cylinder mounted on the left front as I recall.

I want to put it back to the way I remember it as a kid, manual lift.

The manual details all of the configurations really well for different tractors....I got one on ebay a while back....

I had intended to use mine on my BN but still havent figured which lift system I want....

I just went ahead and ordered the manual from BinderBooks, as well as the manual for my Super-C. Hopefully they'll show up in fairly short order. Until then, the pictures Wayne sent me were very helpful. My goal for now is to just soak everything that looks like a bolt, everything that looks like it does move, should move, or might ever have to move, or anything that just looks like it needs it, in some form of lubricant/penetrating oil.
