1940 Ford 9N

Hello I am in need of some help. I am located in Florence Colorado, and in January my father passed away and left me, what I believe to be a 1940 Ford 9N the serial number is 9N160556. This tractor runs great and looks good for its age, However, there is a problem with the 3 point hitch, when I run the tractor for more than 10 minutes the hitch will lift up and stay there. I will then park the tractor and in about 10 to 20 minutes it falls down very fast. Can anyone help my out? I want to keep this unit as it was my fathers favorite toy. I dont know anything about tractors. Please Help Thank You Wes

wes post this on the ford 9-2-8 n board, dell, hobo, dunk or zane will know right what to do, it slips my mind tonite and ive heard of this before

forgot to tell you that serial number indicates the tractor is a 1944 2 n, very little difference in the 9n and the 2 n, the 2n started in 1942, as wartime production models, and could come with steel wheels, no starter [ hand crank to start], as well as no electrical system, to conserve vital componets and materials for WWll, after the war most 2ns thus equipped were retrofitted with the missing parts to make life easier, most 9n and 2n parts are identical, and all 2n engine serials start with 9n
